The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), jointly with Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) and the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), organized an inspection campaign to ensure the compliance of agricultural and livestock facilities in the City of Abu Dhabi and Al Dhafra Region with relevant federal laws and legislations on pesticides, fertilizers, agricultural biostimulants, seeds, seed tubers and seedlings, in addition to laws regulating the practice of veterinary medicine.
During the six-day campaign, the inspection team observed several violations and took the necessary disciplinary action, as stipulated by the law.
Mohammed Al Zaabi, Director of Environmental Compliance at MOCCAE, stressed that the Ministry collaborates with local authorities to monitor agricultural and livestock facilities across the UAE to ensure they are aware of and compliant with regulations.
The inspection campaign coincided with the agreement inked by MOCCAE and Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) earlier in October 2018, to enhance biosecurity measures that prevent animal and animal-human shared diseases and agricultural pests as well as ensure the safety of food in Abu Dhabi.
