The National Committee for biosecurity organized a workshop entitled "Biosecurity Strategy for the United Arab Emirates" at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The workshop brought the concerned parties from ministries, local agencies and bodies related to biosecurity altogether, because of its importance since biosecurity is a strategic approach for integrated analysis and risk management for the lives and health of all species. Biosecurity includes policies and regulatory frameworks for the management, control and prevention of the risks associated with human life and the environment.

 It is worth mentioning that the issue of biosecurity has received considerable attention in the country during the past years, which made the Ministry of Environment and Water put it among its main objectives in its strategic plan to raise the rates of bio-security in the country.

 A number of academics and specialists in the field of bio-security have participated in the workshop from within and outside the country to exchange experiences, opinions and put forward policies that would establish the intended goals. They also discussed the present and future challenges and ways to prevent them, and reviewed the experiences of developed countries in the field of biosecurity.
