The laboratories Department at the Ministry of Environment & Water started the pilot launch for the electronic laboratory management system. The program will be used to help store, retrieve and analyze data.
Mr. Hamad Al Mehyas, the Director of the Laboratories Department at the Ministry, explained that the system provides the necessary infrastructure of computer systems and networks, and that information delivery, reports, and customer service applications follow-up are done according to the requirements of the international accreditation system. Also, the system manages and tracks the laboratories’ operations from the stage of receiving samples, followed by entering information into the computer, referencing each sample, the distribution of samples on different analysis sections and follow-ups, processing the data obtained, and quality control, until the issuance of final laboratory results and in a manner which guarantees information storage and which prevents its loss. It is a system that works well on the development of electronic administrative systems for sampling and analysis, shortens the duration of the procedures, increases the efficiency and productivity of laboratory work, as well as the speed of obtaining the required information, either through hard or soft copies. It also allows the automated tracking for expired chemical materials and solutions, the automated tracking to determine the deadline for the completion of the examination of samples, and the delivery of laboratory results to various veterinary clinics and outlets in the best and fastest ways, in addition to conducting monthly and annual routine auditing and data collection.
