His Excellency Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment recently visited the headquarters of the National Feed and Flour Production and Marketing Company in Abu Dhabi.

During his visit, Dr. Al Zeyoudi toured the company’s production facilities. He was accompanied by Khalifa Al Ali, the Managing Director of the Food Security Center, Nasser Al Junaibi, Chief Executive Officer of the Farmers’ Services Center, Edward Hamed, General Manager of National Feed and Flour Production and Marketing and Patrick Satamian, Chief Executive Officer, Emirates Food Industries in addition to a number of ministry officials.

Dr. Thani was introduced to the company’s activities and future plans to increase the number of selling points in the UAE, specifically near the farms of the Northern Emirates, to ensure that good quality feed is available at reasonable prices.

He praised the company’s role in preserving national food diversity and said that field visits such as these help facilitate communication between the official authorities and national companies which would improve business practices in the industry.

He said: “The federal government gives great attention to the national
companies that work within the food diversity ecosystem. We visited the National Feed and Flour Production and Marketing company in Abu Dhabi because of its good reputation and because it is one of the leading companies in its field. This visit is part of a comprehensive ministerial strategy to be constantly in contact with companies working in this field and to provide them with the right environment to help them prosper and better serve our nation and economy.”

He stressed the importance of having a company of this magnitude and production capacity as well as the importance of having quality control systems in the UAE. He said they have an important role to play in achieving the strategic food diversity objectives which pertain to making feed available and in supporting the animal and agricultural sectors. He emphasized the importance of empowering local capacities which contribute to maintaining food diversity.

Al Junaibi said that the agreement between the farmers’ service centers in Abu Dhabi and the National Feed factories to provide feed at the guidance centers located in several areas in the emirate, reflects the effectiveness of the food diversity programs. It also reflects the support given by the UAE government to livestock breeders through providing good quality feed. He stressed that the aim is to cover most of the needs of the local market.

Hamed said: “The National Feed and Flour Production and Marketing Company is one of the Emirates Food Industries Group’s companies and is one of the biggest and most important companies that are specialized in the production of feed and animal food supplements in the Gulf. The production process takes place in the company’s two main factories. The first, located in the Industrial area in Al Mussafah produces 250,000 metric tons annually and the second is located in Jebal Ali with a similar production capacity.”

The factories of the National Feed and Flour Production and Marketing Company has gained a positive reputation over the years due to the high quality of the feed it produces locally and which have earned it the ISO and HACCP certifications.”
