The Ministry of Environment and Water has discussed different ways of cooperation with the Ministry of Interior’s General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments in the move to increase more awareness on the environment and environmental education. The statement was released after a delegation from the Ministry of Environment and Water, headed by Engineer Aisha Al-Abdooli, Director of Awareness and Education Department, visited the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments at the Ministry of Interior's headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
Engineer Al-Abdooli stated that the meeting falls within the framework of the national strategy for the implementation and education of environmental awareness, particularly in the efforts to educate main government agencies on the current environmental issues. The meeting also comes in the framework of implementing the strategic goal, which in turn, aims to strengthen the commitment of all society segments in the move towards protecting and preserving the environment and drive in more sustainability.
The meeting highlighted many topics, including the national strategy for education and environmental awareness, its objectives, programs and the initiatives that have been implemented-- representing the road map towards increasing environmental awareness for 2015 to 2021.
The meeting also saw the review of the country’s environmental agenda along with key environmental events and activities planned on a national, regional and global environmental scale. In addition, the parties also discussed the proposed implementation of joint programs, campaigns and participation in exhibitions carried out by the two agencies. Both the Ministry of Environment and Water and the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments agreed to exchange information and drive in more environmental awareness through the use of various social media platforms.
