Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has successfully concluded a training workshop attended by 40 participants composed of its employees working in the field of inspecting and controlling facilities within the Eastern region of the UAE. The workshop, which was held recently at The Dibba Al-Fujairah Culture Center, aimed towards transferring knowledge and providing training on the application of procedures and requirements for the inspection and control of environmental, agricultural, livestock and fishery facilities. The move looks towards ensuring that no negative impact will be made on the environment, its sustainability and society, while allowing the continuity of the work of these areas and guaranteeing their contribution to the national economy.

The workshop falls in line with the Ministry’s commitment to ensure the efficiency of applying the regulations and federal legislations related to the Ministry while also promoting the work of the Ministry’s departments that have been tasked with monitoring the components and contaminants of local environment and providing data to the concerned authorities on a regular basis as part of the Ministry's objectives to warrant the safety of the environment and its continued sustainability. The workshop included a detailed explanation of the laws and regulations governing the work of environmental, agricultural, livestock and fishery facilities.

H.E. Engineer Saif Mohammed Al-Shara, Assistant Undersecretary for External Audit Sector, Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, said that Ministry is keen to enforce environmental legislation and laws established by the UAE in accordance with best international standards and in line with the objectives of the UAE strategy of achieving sustainable development, preserving environmental, agricultural, animal, and marine resources, enhancing the natural resources of the UAE and preventing the promulgation of agricultural pests and communicable animal diseases.

Al-Shara stressed the inclusion of programs specially developed for human resources, particularly the ones working in the field. The workshop seeks to improve and enhance employee skills—teaching them more about operational procedures involving the inspection and control sector to further enhance efficiency and understand the requirements of these legislations and regulations. The move complements the efforts to achieve the vision of the wise leadership regarding environmental sustainability and environment protection as part of the priorities stated in the national agenda of UAE Vision 2021.

Al-Shara explained about the importance of intensifying efforts in this area and praising the efforts of the local authorities to follow up the audit and inspection tasks. He reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment in cooperating and facilitating key coordination with all strategic partners in order to ensure a sustainable environment.

During the workshop, participants discussed the different models of violations that have been recorded by the Ministry and the actions implemented to address them. In addition, the group also reviewed the different inspection and audit forms used and the forms of frequent violations that have been monitored.
