The Ministry of Environment and Water Discusses a Strategic Partnership with the Arabic Language Protection Association

His Excellency Dr. Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad, the Minister of Environment and Water, met with His Excellency Bilal Rabea’ Al Budoor, the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, and the Chairman of the Arabic Language Protection Association, Arabic, on Wednesday’s morning.

Both have met on the sidelines of a press conference for the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the launch of a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Environment and Water and the Arabic Language Protection Association, in the presence of Her Excellency  Dr. Mariam Al Shenasi, the Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs and other group of officials.

   The MoU aims to activate the principle of partnership and cooperation between the two entities to support the theatrical awareness play titled "Water.. An Eloquent Language" carried out by the Arabic Language Protection Association for the aim of  motivating interest in implementing the UAE strategy for strengthening the Arabic language on one part, and to increase awareness of the rationalization of water consumption on the other part, in addition to the Ministry focus on achieving its values ​​aimed at improve excellence, leadership and teamwork through cooperating with other governmental entities.

   His Excellency Dr. Rashid Ahmad bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water, reassured that the ​​social and educational values that the theatrical play carries are consistent with series of initiatives launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and the Prime Minister of the UAE, and the Ruler of Dubai, -May God Protect Him- to promote the Arabic language and to educate all segments of society to establish a genuine interest in their native language, Arabic, which reflects their national identity.

   His Excellency added that the Ministry gives a great importance for the support of national projects seeking to promote a culture of preservation of the Arabic language, the rationalization of water consumption, the Arabic language isolation and the importance of promoting language protection, and highlighting the role of the family regarding their children’s usage of Arabic language from religious and national perspectives. The Ministry is keen to increase its efforts to support this national project oriented to increase families and youth awareness, with a level of artistic and technical privileges that would enhance the educational aim, implant religious values ​​in terms of knowledge, and imprint noble moral values ​​of the community.

   His Excellency, Bilal Al Budoor, the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, and the Chairman of the Arabic Language Protection Association, said that the play will promote the authenticity of Arabic, and it is a pursuant to achieve the leadership initiatives that are represented by their eagerness to develop an interest in Arabic by the community. Where -we- here, at the Association,  are aiming through this theatrical work to educate and guide the emerging interest in Arabic and to promote awareness as well as to rationalize water consumption.

   H.E. Al Budoor added that, we call upon all governmental entities and the private sector to contribute to the project support, for its distinguished privileges enjoyed by the sponsors through the media and advertisement when presenting the project, and to participate in social responsibility in order to contribute to nation building.

   The journalist Nahed Anwar, whom a member of the Protection of Arabic Language Association and the author of the play, said that the Association seeks to launch intellectual creativity through this national project, which is directed to all family members in general and to the youth in particular, in order to increase the awareness of cultural, and linguistic importance and to increase water consumption awareness during this tremendous technical acceleration. Water and language are two parts of our lives that we can’t not ignore, for water is provide us with life and the language is an identity.
