His Excellency Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, the Minister of Environment and Water, has emphasized on the importance of strengthening the partnership between the Ministry and private sector institutions, working in the field of veterinary services. In addition to the importance of the continues assessment of the efficiency of the regulations applied, governing veterinary work, through the development of legislative structure to improve work processes for these institutions.
The Minister held a meeting with a number private veterinary clinics officials and veterinarians, at the Ministry headquarters in Dubai. The meeting was attended by H.E. Sultan Alwan, the Assistant Undersecretary for External Audit, Engineer Saif Al-Shara’, the Assistant Undersecretary for Agricultural and Livestock Affairs, and a number of officials at the Ministry. The meeting focused on strengthening partnership frameworks with the private sector, and discussing ways to develop the level of services provided by, private veterinary clinics and strengthen its role in the development of the livestock sector in the country.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Rashid Ahmad bin Fahad welcomed the partners - representatives of the veterinary facilities in the private sector-, explaining the importance of the role played by private veterinary facilities to contribute to the increase of biosecurity rates and enhance food security in the country through providing of distinguished veterinary services and ensuring animal health.
The Minister pointed out the laws and regulatory decisions issued by the country concerning the veterinary practices, organization and care. Which were explained to the employees in veterinary facilities by the Ministry, during the last period, by organizing workshops and conducting meetings to introduce the legislative regulations set for this practice.
His Excellency also mentioned the role of the external audit at the Ministry which guarantees ongoing assessment, of the efficiency of the legislation application, stressing on the importance of remarks and observations received from the partners, regarding the development of the legislative structure.
His Excellency added that, as part of its efforts to maintain ongoing development in the field of veterinary medicine and veterinary care, the Ministry in coordination with the Ministry of Presidential Affairs will launch a diploma program in veterinary medicine in the Higher Colleges of Technology, to prepare national cadres to work in the field of veterinary medicine and livestock.
The meeting also focused on discussions concerning the current situation and the challenges facing the private sector in the field of veterinary practice and the role of the Ministry regarding the oversight of enterprises work. Technical and health conditions that govern veterinary facilities work were also highlighted, as well as issues related to veterinarians, assistants, laboratory technicians and nurses at the private veterinary firms. and the Ministry's future plan regarding the sector that would ensure development plans support and maintain the country’s livestock.
