Ministry of Environment and Water honors employees

H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water, honored the distinguished employees as well as the exceptional staff members of the ministry’s affiliated regulatory units during a ceremony held at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai. The UAE Ministry of Environment and Water’s undersecretaries, managers and employees from various departments attended the event.

The honoring ceremony is held every year to recognize the efforts of the employees, further inspire them to adopt an attitude of excellence and innovation, and promote work dedication to help boost individual and organizational performance. The ministry strives to continuously equip its staff with world-class skills as well as attain the goals of UAE Vision 2021 especially in terms of promoting sustainable development and green economy. The recognition ceremony also corresponds with the ministry’s aim to provide a work environment that encourages positive spirit, promotes collaboration among regulatory units, and enhances the culture of excellence and innovation based on international standards.

During his welcome remarks, H.E. Bin Fahad attributed the ministry’s accomplishments in the previous years to the hard work and dedication of its workforce.  “The event is in line with the directives of H.H. Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, and the vision and strategy of our federal government chaired by H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. Our leaders encourage innovation and increased participation among government employees to achieve excellence, provide a better life to our citizens and realize the hopes and aspirations of every Emirati.”

He first honored the employees of regulatory units who obtained highest results in customer satisfaction survey followed by staff members who submitted and implemented innovative methods to improve the services and operations of their departments and promote ecological protection for the year 2013. The event also recognized the best suggestions and ideas for the year 2013. The ministry honored its outstanding employees for the year 2013 as well.

Several employees were also cited for their crucial role in the ministry’s successful bid to obtain compliance certificates from nine international standard-setting bodies. These certificates are the ISO 9001 for quality systems management, ISO 4001 for environment systems management, OHSAS 18001 for occupational safety and health systems management, ISO system for laboratories systems management, ISO 27001 for information security, ISO 2000 for information system management, ISO 10001 for clients’ code of conduct, ISO 10002 for clients’ observations, and ISO 10015 for training. A team of internal auditors were also honored for their contributions.

H.E Bin Fahad noted that honoring the ministry’s employees will further challenge them to aim higher and persevere more. The ceremony is also an opportunity to recognize their loyalty and commitment to the ministry’s goals and the grand vision of the country’s leaders.

He also pointed out the significance of training succeeding generation of leaders and employees by providing them an opportunity to demonstrate their talents, commend their skills and encourage them to strive for excellence. In line with the vision of H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the ministry will continue to provide all necessary support to build a modern UAE. One significant step is to invest in human resources to achieve the ambitious goal of catapulting the UAE into one of the world’s progressive countries by 2021.
