Her Excellency Called upon Partners to Seize the Opportunity of Participating and Contributing to Food Security Within the UAE Dr. Al Shenasi: We Seek to Explore the Promising Economic Opportunities in the Production of Eggs Through the Middle East Conference and Exhibition of Eggs

The Ministry of Environment and Water sponsors the Middle East Exhibition and Conference of Eggs and Egg Products, which will be held in cooperation with the conference and exhibitions planning company, at the Dubai World Trade Centre scheduled on March 26th-28th, 2013.

According to Her Excellency Dr. Mariam Al Shenasi, the  Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Environment and Water, the Ministry aims, through its sponsorship of the exhibition, to explore promising economic opportunities for the regional markets and foresee the latest safety and prevention measures in the field of egg production, and to increase and develop the local production of eggs. The current UAE local production of table eggs, from modern farms, is estimated around 616 million eggs per annum, which relatively covers about 45% of the UAE’s demand for eggs. In accordance to the estimate, the country needs to increase the production capacity of local farms to reach self-sufficiency.

Her Excellency pointed out that the United Arab Emirates occupies a prominent place on the map of international trade, and deliberately, the UAE was able to compete because of its advanced infrastructure and service. Businessmen and merchants both praise the UAE for exceptional events and exhibitions organized for various industries. The exhibition is a part of a series, of related programs, dealing with food security strategies in the UAE, to insure the increased demand of locally produced food is met and achieve UAE's self-reliance in food production.
