The Ministry of Environment and Water, along with the National Committee of Bio-Security, is organizing the second edition of the ‘UAE Second Bio-security Conference’ which will be held on April 28 to 29, at Park Hyatt, Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas. Championing the slogan ‘Integrated Bio-Security’, the conference will draw wide participation from international organizations, government ministries, municipalities and local authorities.

The conference plays an integral role in the ministry’s efforts to implement its bio-security strategy by providing an avenue for discussing relevant means of preparation to address current challenges in the field, which will be discussed during the event.

The second edition of the conference is a key platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange. In order to efficiently tackle relevant issues within the industry, the discussion was organized into four main topics: legislations and laws, local and international practices in this field, issues caused by bio-security, and biological safety and security in emergency cases.

Serving as a peripheral event is a workshop which will throw the spotlight on biological security and safety in facing epidemics such as Ebola, as well as special safety level procedures in the laboratories.

The Ministry also organized the UAE’s first conference on bio-security in April last year, which successfully drew the wide participation of international and regional organizations as well as local authorities. The National Committee of Bio-Security then recommended that the conference be held annually to better realize the goals of the National Strategy for Bio-Security.
