H.E. Eng. Saif Al Shara, Assistant Undersecretary of Agricultural Affairs and Animal Sector, Ministry of Environment and Water, and H.E. Dr. Saeed Qadir, Commercial Counselor at Consulate General of Pakistan in the UAE, discussed the collaboration between the UAE and Pakistan and efforts to enhance their current relationship in a meeting held recently.
H.E. Al Shara began the meeting by welcoming the Commercial Counselor to the UAE and acknowledging the strong ties between the two countries, particularly in the zoological and agricultural fields. Dr. Qadir, in turn expressed Pakistan's interest in strengthening its collaboration with the UAE and facilitating smoother bilateral agricultural trade.
The parties discussed various agricultural issues of mutual interest, including procedures for exporting livestock, vegetables and fruits and the necessary requirements to export poultry from Pakistan to the UAE.
The meeting also tackled the conditions included in health certificates attached to livestock shipments. These certificates protect the health and safety of consumers, prevent the local spreading of infectious and epidemic animal diseases, and avoid losses to importers and exporters should their animal shipments be returned for containing infected stock and agricultural products incompatible with its source.
The parties discussed topics related to fresh and refrigerated meat exports as well to ensure smooth meat shipments from Pakistan to the UAE.
