The Ministry of Environment and Water recently organized an introductory workshop on project management at its Dubai headquarters in cooperation with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. International. The Ministry’s various department heads attended the session.
During the seminar, the lecturer explained in full detail the concept behind project management, its foundations and various development stages. The lecturer cited some examples of large-scale projects as well as the Ministry’s ongoing initiatives such as its new building in Dubai, the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Center for Marine Research in Umm Al Quwain, and the integrated waste management project in the Northern Emirates.
The workshop defined the participants’ roles and responsibilities before, during and after a project’s implementation, including the stages of execution and timeline for completion. The objectives were also discussed, such as the project managers’ level of professionalism in relation with the success of current and future projects. The seminar emphasized the need to elevate governance and promote transparency in project management as well.
Engineer Yahya Al Ali, Director of Project Management Office, said that his department helps accomplish the Ministry’s strategic goals and the objectives of its wide range of initiatives and programs by ensuring the success of each project in accordance with the set scope, timeline and estimated costs. He added that the office guarantees high quality as well as reduced risks for each project.
