The Ministry of Environment and Water recently held a successful blood donation campaign at the Ministry’s headquarters in Dubai. The event was held in collaboration with the Sharjah Blood Transfusion and Research Centre and the Emirates Volunteer Association. Leading the campaign was His Excellency Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, the Minister of Environment and Water and was joined by the Ministry’s assistant undersecretaries, department's directors and managers, employees and customers participated in the campaign.
The blood donation campaign falls in line with the Ministry’s continued commitment to organize community activities and humanitarian and charitable campaigns that are aimed to encourage members of the community to donate blood to help meet the needs of thalassemia patients, chronic diseases patients and patients recovering from surgical procedures.
The Ministry of Environment and Water has affirmed its commitment in regularly holding bloodletting campaigns throughout the year to spread the culture of blood donation among Ministry staff, partners, customers and community members. The move is directed towards enhancing the sense of national belonging, bestowal, togetherness and integration of community, in addition to spreading the spirit of social responsibility and human values.
H.E. Bin Fahad said: “The Ministry’s continuous campaigns and initiatives demonstrate our commitment to advocate key social responsibility concepts and to promote the importance of a sustainable work environment. We aim to achieve these goals via the move to increase awareness on the importance of having a sense of social responsibility among all society levels, which reflects the success of any corporation or entity.”
The Ministry’s employees and customers enjoyed interaction during the event and helped spread the importance of such campaigns—sending out an important humanitarian message in addition to asserting established Islamic values and increasing a sense of responsibility towards society. Lastly, the employees of the Sharjah Blood Transfusion and Research Centre expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the Ministry to sponsor blood donation campaigns, which reflects the Ministry’s commitment towards social responsibility.
