Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Salaheddine Mezouar, visited the UAE Pavilion at the 22nd session of the Conference of Parties (COP) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. He was accompanied by United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Climate Change and Environment, His Excellency Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, who thanked him for Morocco’s leadership in ensuring the success of COP22.
“We’d like to thank the Moroccan Presidency and the people of Morocco for gathering international leaders at COP22 to begin translating the outcomes of the Paris Agreement into concrete actions,” His Excellency Al Zeyoudi said. “We look forward to continued collaboration with Morocco in our efforts to accelerate action on climate change.”
During his visit, His Excellency showcased the UAE’s global and domestic efforts on climate action and highlighted the UAE’s instrumental role in helping to reduce emissions and create new economic opportunities through the development of new technologies and innovation.
His Excellency Mezouar expressed profound gratitude for the UAE’s support of COP22 and the country’s continued efforts in working with the global community to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
The UAE delegation to COP22 included government officials, business leaders and youth. The country’s participation in the Marrakesh climate change conference reinforced the UAE’s commitment and leadership in climate action and sustainability.
