MOCCAE participates in GITEX Tech Week 2016 with a range of smart services

Tuesday, 18 October 2016

• 36% decline in electricity and 39% in water consumption in the buildings of MoCCaE. • Expected to reduce carbon emissions above 500 tonnes and save 400,000 dirhams annually in the water and electricity bills. The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCaE) has been participating in the 10 chapter of GITEX Technology Week held in Dubai World Centre during 16-20 October 2016.

MoCCaE has displayed the most recent innovative projects in addition to the executed projects and smart services that aimed at shedding light on the achievements of the ministry in the area of smart government and introducing its projects to the public.

H.E Dr Thani Ahmed AlZeyoudi, the Minister of Climate Change and Environment said that MoCCaE aims to ensure the provision of high-quality smart services by launching advanced projects and channels that contribute to increasing the customer satisfaction level in sync with the Vision 2021 to be the forerunner and pioneering city in terms of meeting the individual and social requirements.

One of the most notable projects of MoCCaE is the National Waste Data Base which links all concerned authorities with the waste management of Emirates through an electronic system.

The system helps authorities collect and follow up the data of waste types generated (E.g.: nonhazardous: like solid municipality waste, agricultural, building and destruction wastes and hazardous: like medical, industrial… etc.) and the amount of waste treated in different ways (Recycling, composting, incineration with energy recovery, incineration without energy recovery, and export to be processed out of the country).

The system will also produce dynamic reports of the collected data through which the waste management authorities can follow up the national strategic indices and global competitive index.

In response to the Ministerial Decision for the services in 2015 regarding the rationalisation of energy and water usage in government buildings, the ministry has started the rationalisation plan through various innovative ways in its four premises in different emirates at first stage.

During seven months of implementing this plan in 2016 compared to 2015, the result showed 36% decline in electricity and 39% in water consumption in these buildings.

By the end of 2016, the ministry expects to reduce carbon emissions above 500 tonnes and save 400,000 dirhams annually in the water and electricity bills.

It’s worth mentioning that the Ministry is going to launch the second phase of rationalisation initiative on a new group of its buildings with the aim to convert the entire ministry premises to the green and eco-friendly buildings.

“Ajwa” an app to monitor the air quality inside buildings also was introduced. This app also helps identify the level of noise, temperature and humidity in buildings.

Innovative Eco-Book

Coinciding with the UAE’s “Year of Reading” Initiative the ministry has published an innovative Eco-Book that includes a number of reports issued by MoCCaE.

The ministry has also updated its smart services and apps with an array of easy and cutting-edge options for its customers including people with special needs.

The Ministry also called on the public to visit its pavilion at GITEX Technology Week and give their feedback to enhance its public services continuously.
