The Ministry of Environment and Water, represented by its Municipal Affairs and Management Department, recently welcomed the visit of an official delegation from the Ministry of Labor. The visit is part of the continuing efforts to promote cooperation between federal, municipal and external stakeholders involved in municipal affairs, while also aiming to increase contributions to the quality and further development of municipal work in the UAE.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Environment and water’s team gave a presentation covering its 2014-2016 strategy, which includes the Ministry’s vision, mission, values and goals. In addition, the officials also talked about the strategic roadmap towards developed to be undertaken by each department, including the Municipal Affairs and Management Department.
A special presentation covering the organizational structure of the Municipal Affairs and Management Department was also given—detailing the department’s objectives and duties, which includes establishing coordination between the UAE’s municipalities to implement all national projects; narrow down work and unify the regulations and policies that affect municipal services; promote cooperation between the federal and municipal authorities; facilitate a smooth exchange of experiences and practices; continuously recommend improvement initiatives and coordinate the representation of the country across international private forums, conferences and seminars that are related to municipal affairs.
The meeting also served as a strategic platform to introduce the visiting delegation to their MoEW counterparts—thereby strengthening communication ties, which is part of the Ministry’s move to ensure more safety and security particularly in the exchange and handling of internal and external communications, in addition to the events, activities and conferences run by the Municipal Affairs and Management Department.
