Ministry of Environment and Water to Lunch the 1st National State of Green Economy Report During Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2015

The Ministry of Environment and Water will be lunching the first national report on the country’s State of Green Economy druing the Abu Dhabi Sustainability week at the International Water Summit 2015, which will be held from January 19 to 22, 2014 at the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Center (ADNEC) in the capital city. The Ministry’s participation complements the UAE commitment to adopt the green economy approach as a path of sustainable development through the ‘UAE Green Growth Strategy’ that falls in line with UAE Vision 2021, which is inspired by the National Work Programme of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

The Ministry prepared the first national report on the country’s State of Green Economy  in collaboration with federal and local authorities and the country’s private enterprises. It also collaborated with international organizations, namely the Environment Program (UNEP) of the United Nations, The International Labour Organization (ILO), the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the United Nations development program (UNDP). The report will be launched by H.E. Excellency Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water on the first day of the exhibition.

 The release of the report comes to support local and national efforts in implementing the green economy, which was officially adopted via the launch of the Green Growth Strategy. The initiative also looks towards reviewing the country’s achievements; its transition to a green economy; the diversification of the economy and energy; the integration of environmental elements in the country’s development plans; the success stories in various sectors such as Oil and Gas, Energy and Water, Industry, Transport and Buildings, Tourism and Agriculture, Waste Management, land planning and financial services and the measure of the progress achieved by the state to transform into a green economy.
