National laws include Federal Law No. 23 of 1999 on the exploitation, protection, and development of living aquatic resources in the country, Federal Law No. 24 of 1999 on the protection and development of the environment, and Federal Law No. 11 of 2002 on regulating and controlling the international trade of endangered animals and plants. Many strategies and programmes have also been developed to protect endangered species in line with the protection of biodiversity.
