Located in the north of Ras Al Khaimah, the Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Wadi Desert, is a 500 hectare nature reserve. The resort provides 5 star hospitality services and is a habitat to a number of animals, such as the endangered Arabian oryx, Sand and Arabian gazelles, Arabian red fox and Arabian horned viper amongst other species. In respect to birdwatching, Al Wadi Desert is home to approximately 28 species. The red-wattled lapwing, the Arabian babbler and the hoopoe are examples that can be seen.
