Suwaidi Pearl Farm

The Suwaidi Peal Farm was established in 2005 by Abdullah Al Suwaidi in order to preserve the heritage of pearling in the region. The farm breeds its oysters and prepares the adults for seeding. After this, it is a patient process of caring and nurturing the oyster while nacre – mother of pearl (the mineral substance the oysters inner shell is made of) grows over the seeded nucleus.

Visitors can learn about the history of pearling and how the process has now changed and been developed to increase pearl production and preserve the oysters’ natural habitat in the lagoon of Al Rams. Similarly, available is the opportunity to go both scuba and pearl diving.
