The history of Souq Al Shanasiyah goes back to the fifties of the last decade. The reconstruction of the Souq was built on the old foundations that had been discovered through the excavation work that covered 2500 m² in the area. It had been also decided to keep the name of the Souq as how it used to be in the past. Al Shanasiyah, a name the came from the merchants from the state of Shanas, who used to gather in the Souq for sale and purchase. Currently, Souq Al Shanasiyah is known as a youth entrepreneurship hub, as it offers specialty coffee, a restaurant, and other modern shops.
