Jebel Jais

Within the Hajar mountain range and straddling both the United Arab Emirates and Oman; Jebel Jais represents the highest summit in the country approaching 2,000 m above sea level. In addition to a more temperate climate as one heads to the top, its significant height and spectacular views; visiting the mountain provides thrill seeking opportunities. These are represented by taking the Jebel Jais Flight zipline – the world’s longest – at a little over 2,800 metres, or otherwise ascending and descending the Via Ferrata (iron road) climbing route. For those who wish to absorb the surrounding scenery, the Viewing Deck Park, together with telescopes, marks an advantageous observation point. Camping is also possible with there being places to put up tents and stay the night.

How to get here

Heading in an easterly then north-easterly direction from Ras Al Khaimah, take the Wadi Al Biyah-Ras Al Khaimah Road, then north on the Jabal Al Jais Road. Via Ferrata is around 30 km, the Viewing Deck approximately 50 km and zipline 52 km from Ras Al Khaimah.


Recommended Visit Season

October to April.


Working Days

Via Ferrata and the Jebel Jais Flight zipline are open from Wednesday to Sunday between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm. The Viewing Deck Park is open between 8.00 am and 8.00 pm Sunday to Thursday – and from 08.00am to 11.00 pm Friday and Saturday.


Facilities

Parking, food outlets and restrooms are available at the Viewing Deck Park.  Parking, a coffee machine and restrooms are available at the Torverde Jebel Jais Flight zipline facility.


Entrance fees

Jebel Jais Flight zip line and Via Ferrata are chargeable and can be enquired upon by contacting the operator Toroverde or visiting the website http://toroverdeuae.com/


What To Take

Appropriate outdoors clothing and footwear. Bringing water and food provisions is also recommended, if you are not going to use the restaurants at the Viewing Deck Park.
