Dhayah Fort

As the only existing hilltop fortress in the country, Dhayah Fort dates back to the early 19th Century and overlooks the fertile bay of Dhayah – an area settled since the third millennium BC. Sitting at the top of the hill, in itself a natural defence, the fort played a role in protecting the oasis and the date plantations surrounding it.
