Located at the far end of Abu Dhabi, Al Yasat Marine Protected Area includes four islands and their surrounding waters.  Unique marine creatures, including sea turtles, dolphins, and the dugongs - which is endangered - live, breed and forage here.
A large amount of Abu Dhabi’s protected wilderness can be experienced on these islands. Dugongs- large, but shy marine animals who feed on seagrass—call this area home. The reserve also has a population of desert rabbits, while the reefs around the island have more than 18 species of hard coral.
Keen bird-watcher ought to tour this area, as it sees migratory populations of diverse birds like flamingos. Al Yasat Reserve also has a large breeding colony of Socotra cormorants, which is listed as vulnerable to extinction.
Notable for its rich biodiversity, Al Yasat Reserve covers more than seven percent of the Emirate’s biodiversity. Make sure to visit for a taste of the wildlife of the United Arab Emirates.
