Set within Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve, Al Qudra represents a cluster of man-made lakes in the surrounding Saih Al Salam desert and is well-suited for a day away from city life or for over-night camping. By its lakes is an 86 km cycling track that might equally appeal to ultra-distance running enthusiasts.
In addition, Al Qudra marks a place for the enjoyment of nature and captivating scenery. The lakes are home to mountain gazelles (Gazella gazella), sand gazelles (Gazella leptoceros) and Arabian oryx (Oryx leucoryx) amongst other mammals. In respect to birdwatching, there have been sightings for example of kestrels (Falco tinnunculus), red-wattled lapwings (Vanellus indicus) and grey herons (Ardea cinerea) as well as a large number of other bird species.
