Representing the smallest of Al Ain’s six oases, Al Muwaiji is distinguished by its date plantations and its historic buildings. In this particular regard, Qasr Al Muwaiji, built at the turn of the 20th Century has also been home to Abu Dhabi’s rulers.
In respect to UNESCO World Heritage List status, accorded to this and the five other oases; traditional Falaj irrigation networks are employed for the passage of underground water to support agriculture. As for human development, the important role represented by this oasis and its historic significance, is most recently evidenced in the social advance of Abu Dhabi during the 20th Century.
