Al Hili Oasis represents one of six oases in Al Ain, that are together named on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is found nearby Al Hili Archaeological Park in the north of the city and contains a historic residence dating to the 19th Century and two watchtowers. The function of these buildings being to protect the settlement of Hili and its water resources.
Traditional falaj irrigation ducts are used for directing underground water, to date plantations. Al Hili Oasis is as a result, representative of continued human management of land, and the subsequent progression of agriculture, architecture and civilisations in an arid desert climate.
